Overview#
Use Sidekick as your team coordination assistant — scheduling meetings, posting updates, and managing follow-ups across Google Calendar and Slack.
Scenario: Sprint standup automation#
Step 1: Set up the workflow#
Every weekday at 9:30am:
1. Post a standup prompt to #engineering in Slack asking each
team member for: yesterday's progress, today's plan, blockers
2. At 10:00am, collect the responses
3. Summarize into a digest and post to #engineering-leads
4. If anyone mentions a blocker, create a follow-up thread
Step 2: Required connections#
| Service | Scopes needed |
|---|---|
| Slack | Read channels, post messages |
| Google Calendar | Read events (for conflict detection) |
Step 3: Governance setup#
| Action | Approval |
|---|---|
| Post standup prompt | Auto-approve |
| Read Slack responses | Auto-approve |
| Post summary digest | Auto-approve |
| Create follow-up threads | Require approval |
Step 4: Iterate#
After the first week, review the summaries:
- Are they capturing the right information?
- Is the formatting clear?
- Should any actions be escalated differently?
Adjust Sidekick's instructions based on what you learn.
