Notifications

One bilateral inbox for what Sidekick needs from you and what it just did for you — with per-type preferences and multi-transport delivery.

One inbox, both directions#

The notification feed is a bilateral channel. Sidekick uses it to tell you what it needs (approvals, escalations) and what it just accomplished (routine completions, Job progress).

Per ADR-082 §9 notification preferences live at Settings → Notifications. The feed itself is the in-app notification list (the bell in the workspace nav) and the relevant items also surface inline as Sidekick widgets — for example pending approvals appear as Approvals widgets in chat.

Notification types#

TypeWhen it fires
Approval requiredSidekick proposes an action that needs your sign-off
Approval resolvedA pending approval is approved or rejected
Agent stalledSidekick cannot make progress and needs operator input
Reply receivedAn inbound message arrives from a connected channel
Routine completedA scheduled or reactive routine run finishes successfully
Routine failedA routine run encounters an error
Delegated work attentionA delegated Job needs operator review

Delivery transports#

Each notification can be delivered through one or more transports:

TransportDescription
In-appAlways on — appears in the notification feed inside the dashboard
Browser pushDesktop push notifications via the browser
Mobile pushPush notifications on mobile devices
EmailDelivered to your account email address
ChannelForwarded to a connected messaging channel (Slack, Discord, etc.)

Preferences#

In Settings → Notifications, the preferences panel lets you control delivery per notification type:

  • Immediate — deliver as soon as the event fires
  • Muted — suppress delivery for this type

Preferences are workspace-scoped. Changing them in one workspace does not affect other workspaces.

info In-app delivery cannot be muted. Even when other transports are silenced, the notification always appears in the dashboard feed.

Every notification includes a deep link that takes you to the relevant surface — Sidekick (chat with the Approvals or Plan widget pre-rendered), Jobs, or the related Settings section — with the right context pre-loaded.

warning Browser and mobile push require granting notification permissions in your browser or device settings. If push seems broken, check your browser's site permissions first.
