Tools

Browse available tool connections, test capabilities, manage MCP servers, and control which tools Sidekick is allowed to use.

See everything Sidekick can do#

Per ADR-082 §9, "Tools", "Integrations", "MCP Servers", and "Connections" all fold into one Connections surface — there's no longer a separate Tools page. Open Settings → Connections to see every capability available to Sidekick: managed connectors (Slack, GitHub, Google, etc.) and custom MCP server tools combined in one view. From the conversation, ask Sidekick "what's connected?" and the Connections widget will render inline.

Managed connectors#

Managed connectors are first-party integrations maintained by LumenFlow. Each connector appears as a card showing:

  • Connector name and icon
  • Connection status — connected, disconnected, or errored
  • Account label — which external account is linked
  • Enabled toggle — turn the connector on or off without disconnecting

Click Connect on any disconnected connector to start the OAuth flow or credential entry.

Custom MCP server tools#

If you have registered MCP servers, their tools appear in the same Connections surface. Each tool shows:

  • The server it belongs to
  • Whether the server is enabled
  • The tool's name and description from the server manifest

Testing tools#

Use the test panel to invoke a tool manually and see the raw response. This is useful when:

  • Setting up a new MCP server and verifying tool discovery
  • Debugging a routine that calls a specific tool
  • Checking that credentials and permissions are working

Governance integration#

Tools are subject to your workspace's governance rules and autonomy policy. A tool that appears in the browser may still require approval when invoked during a routine, depending on your trust level and per-tool policy.

info The ?connect=<key> URL parameter on Settings → Connections opens with a specific connector card focused — useful for deep links from onboarding or other surfaces.

warning Disabling a tool connector does not delete the credential. The connection remains stored and can be re-enabled instantly.
